I Got Your Ice Cold Nugrape by Nugrape Twins

Nugrape Twins - I Got Your Ice Cold Nugrape; Matthew and Mark Little, vocals, unknown pianist.

I got a Nugrape, nice and fine
The rings around the bottle is a ginger wine
I got your ice cold Nugrape

I got a Nugrape, nice and fine
Got plenty imitations but there's none like mine
I got your ice cold Nugrape

'Way down yonder in the Promised Land
A-run and tell your mama, "Hear the Nugrape man."
I got your ice cold Nugrape

Little childrens in the back yard, playin' in the sand
A-run and tell your mama, "Hear the Nugrape man."
I got your ice cold Nugrape

Mmmm-mmmm-mmmm-mmmm-mmm-mmm-mmm
Mmmm-mmmm-mmmm-mmmm-mmm-mmm-mmm
Mmmm-mmmmm-mmmm-mmmm-mm-mm

PIANO SOLO

When you feeling kind of blue
A-do not know what ailin' you
Get a Nugrape from the store
The you'll have the blues no more
I got your ice cold Nugrape

What's that makes your lips go plippity-ploppa
When you drink a Nugrape you don't know when to stop
I got your ice cold Nugrape

If from work you come home late
Rolling pin waits at the gate
Smile and bribe her with Nugrape
Then you'll sneak through in good shape
I got your ice cold Nugrape

Sister Mary has a beau
Says he's crazy and loves her so
Buys a Nugrape every day
Know he's bound to win that way
I got your ice cold Nugrape

Mmmm-mmmm-mmmm-mmmm-mmm-mmm-mmm
Mmmm-mmmm-mmmm-mmmm-mmm-mmm-mmm
Mmmm-mmmm-mmmm-mmmm-mmm-mmm-mmm
Mmmm-mmmm-mmmm-mmmm-mmm-mmm-mmm

NOTE:
Nugrape Twins was an African-American duo, that recorded for Columbia in Atlanta, Georgia, 1926-1927.

Very little is known about the Nugrape Twins, but judging by their (few) other recordings, including the B-side of this record, they would appear to have been a gospel duo.

"I Got Your Ice Cold Nugrape" was recorded on 2 November 1926 in Atlanta, Georgia. Nugrape is a grape-flavoured soda pop drink, invented in 1906 and first bottled in 1921, and still available in the southeastern United States.

The song is an a capella duet, with a simple piano interlude and gentle piano accompaniment in the second half of the record, as the Twins extol the virtues of the product.

It may seem curious I have given such a simple song with such a slight lyrical content a very high rating, but I find the song and performance totally charming and uplifting, and fully deserving of the rating.
