David Crockett

b. in United States. A singer and harmonica player who also played guitar, Crockett spent several years in the 20s and 30s in Cincinnati. He recorded with Sam Jones, the one-man band better known as Stovepipe No. 1. Crockett also recorded with his own group, "King David's Jug Band", for which Jones was featured vocalist. On at least one compilation, there are additional tracks by the "Tub Jug Washboard Band", which might also be one of Crockett's groups.

Among the songs in Crockett's repertoire were "Rising Sun Blues", "Tear It Down", "I Can Deal Worry", "Georgia Bo Bo", "Sweet Potato Blues" and "What's That Tastes Like Gravy?". Continuing the culinary flavour of the last two titles, one of his recordings with Jones was "A Chicken Can Waltz The Gravy Around".
